BARCELONA-Day 2

Part of our “Latergram ” series. This trip took place December 2024.

Today is mostly a light day but I set out to find the BANKSY MUSEUM after a breakfast together before we went our separate ways.

I’ve seen his work on TV, in books but never in person.

Banksy is a pseudonymous England-based street artist, political activist, and film director. He has never publicly confirmed his identity. Active since the 1990s, his satirical street art and subversive epigrams combine dark humour with graffiti executed in a distinctive stenciling technique. His works of political and social commentary have appeared on streets, walls, and bridges throughout the world.[1] His work grew out of the Bristol underground scene, which involved collaborations between artists and musicians.

So, it was really cool to be able to see and experience his work before the crowds arrived.

Here is a pretty decent run through of the museum and his work, including some smaller pieces I have never seen as they were of a style that doesn’t get as much as attention

Well, the afternoon was kind of a bust. Leis had text ed saying she was free for the rest of the day and we met up close to the the Sagrada Familia for what turned out to be a pretty un impressive lunch at a touristy restaurant a few block from the Sagrada.

The other bummer was that tickets were sold out for the Sagrada for a few hours and we had another small group dinner in a few hours so we bailed and headed back to the hotel to get some rest.

What we would find out tomorrow is that all this blunder would be redeemed with and afternoon lunch of light bites, great sangria and a self guided tour of Sagrada Familia with our friends Anotnio and Ana from Infinite Solutions.

After al little rest, we rallied with a friend friends to celebrate Antonio’s “29th Birthday” at a cozy little restaurant called HARRY’S.

Located in La Dreta de l’Eixample, Harry’s is a place where lovers of Italian food can enjoy an outstanding gastronomic experience thanks to the sublime quality of our products.

This Barcelona restaurant transports you directly to Italy with its rustic and cozy decoration.

Gosh, the food was delicious and amazing.

By the way, those were some of the best fries I’ve had in awhile. The other highlight besides getting to celebrate Tony and his birthday was was getting to meet Carla and Michael Kidd and that magical table side service of the pasta carbonara served out of a Parmesan wheel.

Cheers! Now for a short walk back to our hotel, the food coma and jet lag are kicking in.
